FOR 500 YEARS WALFORD COURT has been sitting nestled amongst 20 acres of stream bordered Herefordshire countryside, and apart from the dismantling of the old castle on top of the motte, whose ancient stones are incorporated in the building, not too much has changed.

Described by the Council for the Protection of Rural England as one of the three most tranquil spots in the country, the views are unspoilt, and wildlife abounds.

Conscious of our idyllic location, Walford Court is run using environmentally friendly principles, winning both wildlife and environmentally friendly awards, and we are proud to be silver members of the Green Business Tourism scheme.

We are a 10-minute drive from Ludlow, with its "slow-living" award, and its various arts, craft, food and medieval festivals, and the stunning hills and valleys of Welsh borders.

The house is believed to have once been a court house, and contains many clues as to its importance - there is a medieval frieze which stretches across one internal wall, which is reported to depict the arrival of the newlyweds Prince Arthur and Catherine of Aragon to Ludlow castle, before his untimely death, and her subsequent marriage to the infamous Henry VIII, and a 12th century capitol showing a crowned lions head adorns another wall.

Beautiful views, great walking and cycling, and many historical sights and tales make this an area of the country a real treasure.

"We had no idea that such a place still existed in this chaotic world. What a find. So reminiscent of the Darling Buds of May era. The peace and tranquillity of the garden is complimented by your own obvious passion for the area."
